 Frequently Asked Questions

 1.     How old are the members?

Our members range in age between 10 and 20. We do have girls as young as 7 who begin their involvement with Job’s Daughters as JD2B (Job's Daughter to be).

 2.     What are the requirements for membership?

To become a Job’s Daughter, there needs to be a Master Mason somewhere in the girls’ family. The relationship can be either by blood or by marriage. If your family has been in the United States for at least three generations, 99% of the time there will be a Mason in your family somewhere even if you aren’t aware of it. All we need to do is find them. We have an adult that is designated to researching the Masonic relationship.

2015 update: A new law recently passed to allow any young woman to become a Job's Daughter. She will need to have a Masonic sponsor. If she does not know anyone who is a Mason, we can help her find someone to vouch for her.

 3.     I have heard that this is a cult. Is that true?

No, one of the reasons this is believed to be true is because of the garments our members wear during our meetings. We wear white Grecian robes, which is what women wore in the days of Job. They are white as a symbol of purity and equality.

4. Is Job's Daughters affiliated with a particular religion?

No, it is not. The central beliefs and ideals of the organization as a whole come from the book of Job in the Old Testament. We do require members to believe in a higher power, but it is not required to be any specific religion. We have had members who were jewish, catholic, or christian among others. If you have concerns about membership due to your beliefs, I would encourage you to speak with your church leadership to request their point of view. If you would like to speak to one of our organization's leaders, please use the contact us page and someone will be in touch with you very soon.
